First Twitter enquiry not a follower but a listener

This morning I received my very first Twitter enquiry and it wasn’t form one of the hundreds who asked me to follow them but from someone who was filtering the Tweets !
Yesterday I was addressing an audience made up of hotel marketers at an event hosted by the Hotel Marketing Association at the Radisson Edwardian, Bloomsbury. For my HMA presentation I prepared a talk aimed at helping hoteliers with a million things to do! Their mission, should they choose to accepted it, was to spend 20 minutes on 20 online marketing ideas over 20 days with the aim of generating 20 new customers. The title is “You Need 20:20 Vision in Today’s Hospitality Market” I pushed out the article just prior to the presentation so I had the opportunity to mention its speed of listing during the evening. It was pushed out around 6pm, indexed in 10 minutes and around 7pm I received the following message in an email: Jon, I Saw you hotel post via a twitter link. Great job covering all the fundamentals-you write very well. I just left a company here in the states to start my own company a month ago, and I wanted to ask if you would ever be interested in guest blogging or allowing us to publish any of your content-giving you all of the credit of course and linking back to you. I thanked him for his kind words and gave him permission to use my articles appropriately… if he’s a spammer then we’re out of there!!! So don’t spend your time trying to connect with 20,000,000 people who will never read your Tweets but simply post quality articles on your website or blog, then add a link through your Twitter account, or better still via ping.fm and get your words seen by those with an interest in the topic… you never know where it might lead… "Prepare the Learjet for takeoff, we’re on a US tour!!!"
