Online marketing poses "big opportunities"

Pharmaceutical companies could be missing out on the opportunities posed by web marketing and other online promotion strategies, which could include email marketing, an expert has stated.
Analyst at eMarketer Lisa Phillips suggests that the pharmaceuticals sector is not utilising the power of web marketing to the full capacity. Pharma marketers could harness the "big opportunities" that online promotion presents, instead of just being information websites for consumers, she suggests. Businesses could engage with consumers to help take advantage of these avenues, Ms Phillips adds. Ms Phillips also remarks that companies which are failing to understand and communicate with their audience may benefit from adopting web 2.0 applications. Furthermore, eMarketer reports that a study conducted by Burst Media has shown that consumers turn to the internet to help them understand health problems.
