Online marketing budgets 'on increase'
Online marketing budgets 'on increase'
A new UK report from Bellwether suggests that the amount spent by companies on internet marketing has risen once more.
The report was commissioned by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and overall one in four businesses said budgeting was in a more healthy state than for the past two years.
Advertising online accounted for just under six per cent of the total marketing spend by companies across the last quarter but helped generate an upward trend in mainstream advertising budgets.
Budgets set aside for internet marketing out performed all other sectors and a strong showing of firms reported an increase (a net balance of 19 per cent).
Per year, £2 billion of marketing spend now comes from the online sector.
Chief executive of the Aegis group - who took part in the survey - Robert Lerwill said that online opportunities pushed the boundaries.
He said: "The growth in digital is being driven by the convergence of media and entertainment. This process is pushing the boundaries of digital marketing."
Bellwether's report looks at the UK's marketing economy as a whole and the survey took in the views of 250 companies nationwide.
