It was so very funny when Jeremy Coulter approached me about using his Content Management Systems (CMS) for Business in Berkshire. I had spent the previous 3 years talking email marketing and trying to convince Marketing Directors that it was the way forward and received constant knock-backs, as is a salesman's want ;)
First thing I said to him was, "They'll never catch on!" This was back in 2003 when generally a CMS had to be managed by a techie. Jeremy was a journalist and had it designed so that he, a non techie, could manage it. In the summer of 2004 we launched our CMS and over 500 people signed up for a free account... sadly only 20 bothered to use their space properly... but that is the nature of both the FREE world and our consumerism which demands we have a slice of everything, never to give it a second glance once owned.
